National Revolutionary Army

The National Revolutionary Army (NRA; 國民革命軍) was the military arm of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 1924 until 1947.

The NRA was formed in 1924 from the Cantonese military forces that supported Sun Yat-sen and the KMT. Through assistance from the Soviet Union (USSR), it was reorganized into an instrument for the KMT to unify China during the Warlord Era, which was to be achieved through an eventual to defeat the northern warlords and place the country under KMT rule.

With the success of the Northern Expedition and the nominal reunification of China under the KMT in 1928, the NRA functioned as the de facto armed forces of the Republic of China (ROC). This lasted until the promulgation of the 1947 Constitution of the ROC, which established de jure civilian control over the military, and the NRA was reorganized into the Republic of China Armed Forces.

The NRA saw action in major conflicts, including the , the Chinese Civil War, and the Second Sino-Japanese War.
