Nathaniel Bacon (Virginia colonist)

Nathaniel Bacon (January 3, 1647 – October 26, 1676) was an English merchant adventurer who settled in the Virginia Colony, where he sat on the Governor's Council. In early 1676 he led Bacon's Rebellion against the Virginia government. The rebellion was briefly successful; but after Bacon’s death from dysentery in October 1676, the rebel forces collapsed.
