Legalism
The early Han text Huainanzi makes extensive use of the Lushi Chunqiu, leading some early scholars to label some the Huainanzi's chapters as Legalist. Arguably the Lushi Chunqiu is closer to Xun Kuang. As the figure typically thought of as a penal "Legalist", neither the Lushi Chunqiu or Huainanzi think very highly of Shang Yang. The Lushi Chunqiu titles his chapter "unrighteous". The Lushi Chunqiu and Huainanzi instead draw on "bits and pieces" of Shen Dao for their own "heterogeneous political outlook." The Lushi Chunqiu's ideas on Shen Dao also look more like Xunzi.
