Transportation
The Kennedy administration tried to increase federal involvement in transportation particularly with urban transit and so did Kennedy himself. The Kennedy administration sent a letter to US Congress in 1962 saying they wanted a plan that did not put too much weight on cars and "one that did not overemphasize car ownership to thedetriment of public transportation". Effort was also put into building a supersonic airliner as it was felt the Soviet Union's efforts to build one were a threat.
