Candidate for the Mexican throne
During the Convention of London (1861) the issue was brought up that Juan, Count of Montizón could be a possible pretender to the Mexican throne. But it is noted that when offered the crown, he had declined it, thus the Mexican conservatives chose instead Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian to take the throne, who accepted it.
