Joe Medwick

Joseph Michael Medwick (November 24, 1911 – March 21, 1975), nicknamed "Ducky", "Muscles", and "Mickey", was an American professional baseballleft fielder. He played 17 major-league seasons from 1932 to 1948, all in the National League, for the St. Louis Cardinals, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, and Boston Braves. His playing days included the latter half of the Cardinals "Gashouse Gang" era and their 1934 World Series championship.

Medwick remains the most recent National League player to have won the Triple Crown award (1937). A ten-time All-Star, he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers' Association of America in 1968 with 84.81% of the votes. In 2014, he became a member of the inaugural class of the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame.
