Transparent proxy
An intercepting proxy redirects or filters client traffic without being explicitly selected by the client. It is therefore often deployed without requiring browser or application proxy settings, and clients may be unaware that their traffic is passing through a proxy. In HTTP terminology, an interception proxy differs from a conventional HTTP proxy because it is not chosen by the user agent; instead, it is placed in the network path and filters or redirects outgoing traffic, commonly TCP port 80 traffic. In deployment contexts, interception proxies are also commonly called transparent proxies, but this usage should be distinguished from older HTTP terminology, where a "transparent proxy" meant a proxy that did not modify requests or responses beyond what was required for proxy authentication and identification.
