Dumbarton (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Breatainn) was, from 1975 to 1996, one of nineteen local governmentdistricts in the Strathclyderegion of Scotland, covering the town of Dumbarton and surrounding areas to the north-west of Glasgow.
