Canadian Student Film Festival

The festival program also included the Canadian Student Film Festival, a dedicated stream to screen and publicize films by Canadian film students. Originally established by Losique in 1969, almost a decade prior to the launch of the Montreal World Film Festival, and staged at Concordia University, it later became part of the MWFF in 1985, but continued to screen as a distinct stream within the MWFF programming schedule, and presented a number of awards for student films including the Norman McLaren Award for best film.
