Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventress () is a character in the Star Wars franchise. She was introduced in Genndy Tartakovsky's 2003 animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars, in which she was voiced by Grey DeLisle. The character later appeared in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the subsequent television series of the same name, the 2021 Disney+ series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and the 2025 miniseries Tales of the Underworld. Ventress is a Zabrak from Dathomir's Nightsister clan of witches who is surrendered into slavery as an infant before being rescued and trained in the ways of the Force as a Jedi. The death of her Jedi Master causes Ventress to fall to the dark side of the Force and become the Sith Lord Count Dooku's informal apprentice and personal assassin. She serves as a commander for the Confederacy of Independent Systems and fights the Jedi of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars until she is betrayed by Dooku. Ventress returns to the Nightsisters and makes several failed attempts on Dooku's life, after which she turns to bounty hunting as an independent mercenary. She forms an alliance, and later a relationship, with the Jedi Quinlan Vos and sacrifices herself to save him from Dooku. After being resurrected by the Nightsisters' spirits, Ventress continues her bounty hunting career into the era of the Galactic Empire, and has encounters with Clone Force 99 and a young survivor of the Great Jedi Purge, Lyco Strata.
