Traditional

Acupuncture was and is practiced differently by various Chinese philosophical schools, and differs from acupuncture from Korea and Japan. Since its practice constantly evolved, it is hard to say that modern acupuncture points are based upon traditional acupuncture points, to the extent that modern acupuncture would have seemed heretical to ancient and medieval Chinese acupuncturists. The standardization of the position of acupuncture points began in the 1950s.
