The 1962 Constitution, also known as Ayub's Constitution or the Presidential Constitution, was the fundamental law of Pakistan from 8 March 1962 till 25 March 1969. Drafted under, and promulgated by, President and Chief Martial Law AdministratorAyub Khan, it was the country's second constitution since independence. It lasted over 7 years when it was abrogated by President and Chief Martial Law Administrator Yahya Khan. Consisting of 12 parts, 250 articles and 3 schedules, the federal constitution promulgated a strong presidential system with the President possessing all executive authority and serving as both head of state and head of government.
