A camera raw image file is a file that contains unprocessed data straight from a digital camera. Such data can later be changed into a photo, either within a digital camera itself or by usage of external tools. Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed, and contain large amounts of potentially redundant data.

DemosaicingDemosaicingDemosaicing, also known as color reconstruction, is a digital image processing algorithm used to reconstruct a full color image from the incomplete color samples output from an image sensor overlaid with a color filter array (CFA) such as a Bayer filter. It is also known as CFA interpolation or debayering.Color filter arrayColor filter arrayIn digital imaging, a color filter array (CFA), or color filter mosaic (CFM), is a mosaic of tiny color filters placed over the pixel sensors of an image sensor to capture color information. The term is also used in reference to e paper devices where it means a mosaic of tiny color filters placed over the grey scale display panel to reproduce color images.Dcrawdcraw is an open-source computer program which is able to read numerous raw image format files, typically produced by mid-range and high-end digital cameras. dcraw converts these images into the standard TIFF and PPM image formats. This conversion is sometimes referred to as developing a raw image (by analogy with the process of film development) since it renders raw image sensor data (a "digital negative") into a viewable form.ICC profileIn color management, an ICC profile is a set of data that characterizes a color input or output device, or a color space, according to standards promulgated by the International Color Consortium (ICC). Profiles describe the color attributes of a particular device or viewing requirement by defining a mapping between the device source or target color space and a profile connection space (PCS). This PCS is either CIELAB (L*a*b*) or CIEXYZ.JPEGJPEGLossy compression method for reducing the size of digital imagesContinuously varied JPEG compression (between Q=100 and Q=1) for an abdominalCT scanJPEG ( , short for Joint Photographic Experts Group and sometimes retroactively referred to as JPEG 1) is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography.HasselbladHasselbladSwedish camera manufacturer Victor Hasselblad ABHeadquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.TypeSubsidiaryIndustryPhotographic equipment and suppliesGenreCamera equipmentFounded1841; 185 years ago (1841) in Gothenburg, SwedenFounderVictor HasselbladHeadquarters Gothenburg, SwedenArea servedWorldwideKey peopleVictor HasselbladProductsCameras, lenses and scannersRevenue SEK 1.89 billion (2024)Operating income SEK 438.2 million (2024)Net income SEK 344.8 million (2024)OwnerDJINumber of employees210SubsidiariesHasselblad A/S, Hasselblad Bron Inc, Hasselblad Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH, Hasselblad (UK) Ltd, Hasselblad France SAS, Hasselblad Japan KKWebsitewww.hasselblad.com Victor Hasselblad AB is a Swedish manufacturer of medium format cameras, photographic equipment and image scanners based in Gothenburg, Sweden.Color spaceColor spaceA color space is a specific organization of colors. In combination with color profiling supported by various physical devices, it supports reproducible representations of color – whether such representation entails an analog or a digital representation.Phase One (company)Phase One A/S is a Danish company specializing in high-end digital photography equipment and software. It manufactures open platform based medium format camera systems and high-resolution digital imaging devices. Its RAW processing software, Capture One, supports many DSLRs besides their backs.GamutGamutIn color reproduction and colorimetry, a gamut, or color gamut , is a convex set containing the colors that can be accurately represented, i.e. reproduced by an output device (e.g. printer or display) or measured by an input device (e.g. camera or visual system). Devices with a larger gamut can represent more colors. Similarly, gamut may also refer to the colors within a defined color space, which is not linked to a specific device.PentaxPentaxPentax Corporation (ペンタックス株式会社, Pentakkusu Kabushiki gaisha) was a Japanese camera and optical equipment manufacturer. Currently, it exists as Pentax Medical, a division of Hoya's medical endoscope business, as well as the digital and film camera brand of Ricoh Imaging Company, a subsidiary of Ricoh, and TI Asahi Co, Ltd., a manufacturer of surveying equipment.Digital NegativeDigital Negative (DNG) is an open source, lossless, well defined camera RAW data container with the goal to replace a range of proprietary, closed source raw image containers. It has been developed by Adobe and was launched on September 27, 2004. The launch was accompanied by the first version of the DNG specification, plus various products, including a free-of-charge DNG converter utility.Data conversionData conversion is the conversion of computer data from one format to another. Throughout a computer environment, data is encoded in a variety of ways. For example, computer hardware is built on the basis of certain standards, which requires that data contains, for example, parity bit checks. Similarly, the operating system is predicated on certain standards for data and file handling. Furthermore, each computer program handles data in a different manner.
