Integrated services
In computer networking, integrated services or IntServ is an architecture that specifies the elements to guarantee quality of service (QoS) on networks. IntServ can for example be used to allow video and sound to reach the receiver without interruption. IntServ specifies a fine-grained QoS system, which is often contrasted with DiffServ's coarse-grained control system.
Resource Reservation ProtocolThe Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) is a transport layer protocol designed to reserve resources across a network using the integrated services model. RSVP operates over an IPv4 or IPv6 and provides receiver-initiated setup of resource reservations for multicast or unicast data flows. It does not transport application data but is similar to a control protocol, like Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) or Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP).Token bucketThe token bucket is an algorithm used in packet-switched and telecommunications networks. It can be used to check that data transmissions, in the form of packets, conform to defined limits on bandwidth and burstiness (a measure of the unevenness or variations in the traffic flow). It can also be used as a scheduling algorithm to determine the timing of transmissions that will comply with the limits set for the bandwidth and burstiness: see network scheduler.
Quality of serviceQuality of service (QoS) is the description or measurement of the overall performance of a service, such as a telephony or computer network, or a cloud computing service, particularly the performance seen by the users of the network. To quantitatively measure quality of service, several related aspects of the network service are often considered, such as packet loss, bit rate, throughput, transmission delay, availability, and jitter.
Router (computing)A router is a computer and networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks, including internetworks such as the global Internet. Routers perform the traffic directing functions on the Internet. A router is connected to two or more data lines from different IP networks. When a data packet arrives on a line, the router reads the network address in the packet header to determine the destination.
Frame rateFrame rate, commonly expressed in frames per second (frame/s or FPS), is the frequency (rate) at which consecutive images (frames) are captured or displayed. This definition applies to film and video cameras, computer animation, and motion capture systems. In these contexts, frame rate may be used interchangeably with frame frequency and refresh rate, which are expressed in hertz (Hz).
Streaming mediaMultimedia delivery methodOn websites such as YouTube, videos such as this short NASA film about spacesuit design are played instantly depending on the user's internet connection, and the video is partially downloaded in the background.Streaming media is the method by which multimedia data is delivered through a network for playback using a digital media player or media player software.
Soft stateIn computer science, soft state is state which is useful for efficiency, but not essential, as it can be regenerated or replaced if needed. The term is often used in network protocol engineering. It is a term that is used for information that times out (goes away) unless refreshed, which allows protocols to recover from errors in certain services.RSpecRSpec is a computer domain-specific language (DSL) (particular application domain) testing tool written in the programming language Ruby to test Ruby code. It is a behavior-driven development (BDD) framework which is extensively used in production applications.

Another definition of granularity takes into account the communication overhead between multiple processors or processing elements.
File Transfer ProtocolThe File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard communication protocol used for the transfer of computer files from a server to a client over a computer network. FTP is built on a client–server model architecture using separate control and data connections between the client and the server.
