ISO 9241 is a multi-part standard from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) covering ergonomics of human-system interaction and related, human-centered design processes (see also human-computer interaction). It is managed by the ISO Technical Committee 159. It was originally titled Ergonomic requirements for office work with visual display terminals (VDTs). From 2006 onwards, the standards were retitled to the more generic Ergonomics of Human System Interaction.

ISO 13406-2ISO 13406-2ISO 13406-2 is an ISO standard, with the full title "Ergonomic requirements for work with visual displays based on flat panels -- Part 2: Ergonomic requirements for flat panel displays". It is best known to end consumers for defining a series of flat-panel display "classes" with different numbers of permitted defects (or "dead pixels"). ISO 13406-2 also provides a classification of Viewing Direction Range Classes and Reflection Classes.Human-centered designHuman-centered designHuman-centered design, as used in ISO standards, is an approach to problem-solving commonly used in process, product, service and system design, management, and engineering frameworks that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process. The approach seeks to develop solutions that are useful, usable, and responsive to the needs, behaviors, and contexts of the people affected by them.ErgonomicsErgonomicsDesigning systems to suit their usersPractical demonstrations of ergonomic principlesErgonomics, also known as human factors or human factors engineering (HFE), is the scientific study to understand the interaction between humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance.World Wide WebWorld Wide WebThe World Wide Web (also known as WWW, W3, or simply the Web) is a global interconnected information system that enables content sharing over the Internet. It facilitates access to documents and other web resources according to specific rules of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The Web was invented by English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee while at CERN in 1989 and opened to the public in 1993. It was conceived as a "universal linked information system".Interactive voice responseInteractive voice response (IVR) systems are automated telephony systems that interact with callers, gather information, and route calls to the appropriate recipient. They operate using voice recognition and Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) input from a telephone keypad. IVR systems are widely used to manage customer interactions efficiently, improve service accessibility, and streamline business operations.Graphical user interfaceGraphical user interfaceA graphical user interface, or GUI, is a form of user interface that allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphicalicons and visual indicators such as secondary notation. In many applications, GUIs are used instead of text-based UIs, which are based on typed command labels or text navigation. GUIs were introduced in reaction to the perceived steep learning curve of command-line interfaces (CLIs), which require commands to be typed on a computer keyboard.International Organization for StandardizationInternational Organization for StandardizationThe International Organization for Standardization (ISO), (the preferred official pronunciation of the organizational name is: US: ) is an independent, non-governmental, international standard development organization composed of representatives from the national standards organizations of member countries. Membership requirements are given in Article 3 of the ISO Statutes.Human–computer interactionHuman–computer interactionHuman–computer interaction (HCI) is the process through which people operate and engage with computer systems. Research in HCI covers the design and the use of computer technology, which focuses on the interfaces between people (users) and computers. HCI researchers observe how people interact with computers and design technologies that allow humans to interact with computers in new ways.StandardizationStandardizationStandardization (American English) or standardisation (British English) is the process of implementing and developing technical standards based on the consensus of different parties that may include firms, users, interest groups, standards organizations and governments. Standardization can help maximize , interoperability, safety, repeatability, efficiency, and quality. It can also facilitate a normalization of formerly custom processes.Flat-panel displayFlat-panel displayA flat-panel display (FPD) is an electronic display used to display visual content such as text or images. It is present in consumer, medical, transportation, and industrial equipment. Flat-panel displays are thin, lightweight, provide better linearity and are capable of higher resolution and contrast than typical consumer-grade TVs from earlier eras. They are usually less than 10 centimetres (3.9 in) thick.
