. Towaninnie Post Office opened on 1 October 1864 and closed in 1953. The pastoral run here was known as ''Towaninnie'', but when the area was surveyed and gazetted as a parish in 1871 the spelling was ''Towaninny''.


Popular Culture

In February 2025, Michael "Yorak" Hunt and his crew made an expedition to explore and publicize the nearby town of Tittybong, in which they published a YouTube video, detailing their roadtrip from Melbourne and showcasing some of the local areas. This led to an incident of Micheal “Yoraks” P.E.R.V. (Performance Electronic Reconnaissance Vehicle) being into the side of a local road. The device was swiftly recovered after a few shocking "throws" of a water bottle.
