. It is a part of the Mill Woods community of Lakewood. The name means "'a reserve' in the Cree language, and recalls that the Mill Woods area was a Cree Indian reserve between 1876 and 1891." The neighbourhood is bounded on the east by Mill Woods Road, the north by 34 Avenue, the west by 91 Street, and the south by 28 Avenue. There is a community centre near Tipaskan School.

In the City of Edmonton's 2012 municipal census, Tipaskan had a population of living in dwellings, a -1.4% change from its 2009 population of . With a land area of , it had a population density of people/km2 in 2012.


Residential development

The majority of residential construction in the neighbourhood occurred during the 1970s when approximately seven out of ten (69.2%) of residences were constructed.
