Located in the northwestern corner of the county, it borders the following townships: * Eden Township, Seneca County - north * Bloom Township, Seneca County - northeast corner * Lykens Township - east * Holmes Township - southeast corner * Tod Township - south * Eden Township, Wyandot County - southwest corner * Sycamore Township, Wyandot County - west No municipalities are located in Texas Township, although the unincorporated community of Benton lies in the township's south.

Texas Township was organized in 1845.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
