History

The Lincoln-Colorado Railway (which became part of the

) came through the area in 1888 and opened a station. A post office was opened in Studley in 1889, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1994. Prior to 1894, the post office there was called Skelton. Abraham Pratt, an immigrant from England, is usually credited as the founder of Studley, and he built his

The community's grade school closed in the 1960s (part of the state unification plan), and its last grocery store closed in the 1970s.
