History

Abe E. Lichtman opened the movie theater, on November 3, 1928. The city bought the property out of foreclosure for $230,000 in September 2006. Redevelopment was delayed. It was named an endangered place by the D.C. Preservation League in 2007. It was placed on the

on November 25, 2008. In 2010, developers received approval of a plan for redevelopment, of the theater, by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
