Sidney is a

in Delaware County, New York, United States. The population was 5,536 at the 2020 census. The town is at the northwestern corner of the county and contains the village of Sidney.

History

The town was formed in 1801 from the town of Franklin. On April 7, 1801, the town was named "Sidney" in honor of British naval officer Sir Sidney Smith.
