Demographics
In 1900,
Vasil Kanchov gathered and compiled statistics on demographics in the area and reported that the village of Chegan was inhabited by about 270 Bulgarian Christians.
According to a survey by
Georgi Trajčev in 1911 and 1912, Shulin had 23 houses and 375 Bulgarian residents.
A 2007 estimate put the village population in the range of 600 to 650 people.
