As of the 2000 census, there were 4,825 people, 1,997 households, and 1,373 families living in the CDP. The population density was . There were 2,093 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.18% White, 0.39% African American, 0.02% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44% of the population. There were 1,997 households, out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.91. In the CDP the population was spread out, with 21.7% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 21.4% who were 65 years of age or older.
