According to an article written by the New York Times a few years later, it sold: wines and liqueurs, embroidered goods, water pipes, lamps, glass bracelets, and groceries. Christine Sahadi Whelan, one of the current operators of the shop, has written an award-winning cookbook, ''Flavors of the Sun.''
