The racial makeup of the city was 89.92% White, 0.26% African American, 0.77% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 7.34% from other races, and 1.62% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 19.64% of the population. Of 496 households, 27.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.6% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were not families. About 32.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 21.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.85. In the city, the population was distributed as 22.8% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 28.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
