The name of the settlement was changed from ''Rakovnik'' to ''Rakovnik pri Šentrupertu'' in 1953.''Spremembe naselij 1948–95''. 1996. Database. Ljubljana: Geografski inštitut ZRC SAZU, DZS. In the past the German name was ''Kroisenbach''.
