Biography

Dely was born in Sárospatak in 1934, became
International Master FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and ...
in 1962 and Honorary Grandmaster in 1999. He was one of the strongest Hungarian players in the 1960s and 1970s and won the Hungarian National Championship in 1969. Dely took part in the European Team Championship twice, with the Hungarian team he won silver in 1970, bronze in 1965 and won the individual silver medal for his board in 1970. He died on 29 December 2012.
