History

The event was originally open to two-year-olds of either gender. It was established in 1882, and was contested over 1,600 metres at Longchamp. The race was abandoned during World War I, with no running from 1914 to 1919. Due to World War II, the Prix des Chênes was cancelled in 1939 and 1940. It was held at
