2018 New Zealand census, an increase of 12,000 people (26.3%) since the
2013 census, and an increase of 16,077 people (38.7%) since the
2006 census. There were 17,049 households, comprising 28,599 males and 29,037 females, giving a sex ratio of 0.98 males per female. The median age was 32.0 years (compared with 37.4 years nationally), with 13,632 people (23.7%) aged under 15 years, 13,155 (22.8%) aged 15 to 29, 24,786 (43.0%) aged 30 to 64, and 6,063 (10.5%) aged 65 or older.
