At the 2000 census, there were 1,217 people, 516 households, and 347 families living in the township. The population density was . There were 555 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 96.22% White, 0.08% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 1.97% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.29%. There were 516 households, 21.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.8% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 25.2% of households were made up of individuals, and 11.6% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.81. The age distribution was 18.7% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% 65 or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.1 males. The median household income was $51,058 and the median family income was $60,089.
