in order of creation, it was erected from St. Clair Township by the Butler County Commissioners on December 2, 1805. This area was diminished to the present territory when the western half, another full survey township commonly known as the "

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
