History
Merry Hill once had a large house with surrounding gardens and an orchard named Bellencroft. Now demolished, it is now the location of a street named Bellencroft Gardens, with 2-3 private homes where the house once stood. The orchard of Bellencroft is now a cul-de-sac named Orchard Crescent which leads to Orchard Court. Three multi-storey blocks of flats were erected at Merry Hill, on the edge of the Highfields estate, in 1967, where they dominated the local scene. There is also a public house called the Merry Hill.
