History

Margie was a station of the
Northern Pacific Railroad The Northern Pacific Railway was an important American transcontinental railroad that operated across the northern tier of the Western United States, from Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest between 1864 and 1970. It was approved and chartered b ...
, now the Blue Ox Trail. A post office was established in November 1903, and named for the daughter of postmaster Westley Horton, the post office being located in their store. It was located at a site on high land between two swamps. There were several stores and a sawmill. The original post office operated until 1985.
