History

Lohn is first mentioned in mid-12th Century as ''Laune'' and ''Lune''. In 1219 it was mentioned as ''de Laone''.


Geography

Lohn had an area, , of . Of this area, 56.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 35% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (7%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). It is a ''haufendorf'' (an irregular, unplanned and quite closely packed village, built around a central square) located at an elevation of on the upper Schamserberg.
