between 1984 and 1988. Sarlós was born in Budapest. His parents (István Scheithauer, later Sarlós and Erzsébet Till) were members of the

and had been since 1922. His father was deported by members of the

. Afterwards, he was appointed legislative speaker. He resigned in 1988 and became Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian Presidential Council. Sarlós retired from the politics after the end of Communism, and died on 19 June 2006 at the age of 84.
