As of the 2000 census, there were 2,802 people, 1,007 households, and 785 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 1,069 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 97.82% White, 0.18% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.18% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.61% of the population. There were 1,007 households, out of which 38.7% had children under the age of eighteen living with them; 64.1% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% were non-families. 17.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.1% had someone living alone who was sixty-five years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.17. Within the township, the population was spread out, with 27.6% who were under the age of eighteen, 6.6% aged between eighteen and twenty-four, 32.4% between twenty-five and forty-four, 23.7% between forty-five and to sixty-four, and 9.7% who were sixty-five years of age or older. The median age was thirty-seven years. For every one hundred females there were 102.7 males. For every one hundred females who were aged eighteen and older, there were 102.0 males.
