At the time of the 2017 census the district had a population of 339,640, of which 177,565 were males and 162,070 females. Rural population was 111,768 (32.91%) while the urban population was 227,872 (67.09%). The literacy rate was 35.90% - the male literacy rate was 45.37% while the female literacy rate was 25.49%.
