, and purchased by Count György Apponyi (1736–1782) in 1772. It was rebuilt in the late 18th century by György's son, Count Antal György Apponyi, who spent much of his later life there. The castle later went to Antal George's grandson Károly Apponyi (1805–1890), his son Géza (1853–1927) and the latter's son Károly (1878–1959) who sold it to the Hungarian state in 1939.
