History

Hoytville was

ted in 1873 when the railroad was extended to that point. The village was named after William Hoyt, an original proprietor of the town site. A former variant name was Hoyts Corners. A post office called Hoyts Corners was established in 1872, and the name was changed to Hoytville in 1874. The village was incorporated in 1886.
