At the 2000 census there were 10,116 people, 4,010 households, and 2,694 families in the village. The population density was . There were 4,144 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the village was 98.64% White, 0.20% Black or African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.15% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.75%. Of the 4,010 households 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% were non-families. 28.7% of households were one person and 15.3% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.12. The age distribution was 26.4% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% 65 or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.1 males. The median household income was $51,239 and the median family income was $63,180.
