History

Guthrie Township was established in the early 1860s. Guthrie was the surname of a family of pioneer settlers. The Clampitt Site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 98.60%) is land and (or 1.40%) is water. The township's southern border is defined by the East Fork White River.
