traveled throughout the region and reported on who lived there, finding that the towns of what is now the Gjoricë municipality included Gjoricë ( ''Gorica'') with 900 Albanian Muslims, Viçisht with 130 Albanian Muslims and Lubalesh with 160 Albanian Muslims.

"Во повеќето од спомнативе села живее население - со македонски и со албански мачин јазик. Албанското население доминира во северните голобрдски села (Себишта, Пасинки, Врмница, Големо и Мало Острени). Селата: Лешничани, Требиште, Српетово, Торбач, Љуболези, Владимирица и Тучепи се населени со Македонски муслимани (Торбеши), а во Себишта, Требиште, Г. и М. Острени живее мешано население - православни и Торбеши."
During the 2000s linguists Klaus Steinke and Xhelal Ylli in search of Slavic speaking villages in Albania carried out fieldwork in settlements of the area. They visited villages such as Gjoricë and in that area found no Slavic speaking populations. Additionally detailed interviews with local inhabitants did not indicate that there where other places with Slavic speaking people inhabitants in this area. p. 252. "Stichprobenartig haben wir auch überprüft, ob es gegenwärtig weitere slavophone Einwohner beider Religionen in anderen Dörfern dieses Gebiets gibt. Weder der Besuch in Bllata, Gjorica usw., noch die ausführlichen Befragungen unserer Informanten sowie anderer Bewohner des Gebietes haben irgendwelche Hinweise auf weitere Orte mit slavophonen Einwohnern in diesem Bereich ergeben."
