History

Gilman City was

ted in 1897 when the railroad was extended to that point. A post office called Gilman City has been in operation since 1897. The city has the name of Theodore Gilman, a railroad banker. The city would continue to grow up until the removal of the railroad, which led to the slow decline of the town.
