It competes in the IHF U20 Handball World Championship (aka the "Women's Junior (U20) World Championship") and the European U-19 Handball Championship (called the ), which it has both won once. The team is referred as the "U20" and "U20F". Head coach Éric Baradat was previously assistant coach of the french women's senior national team (2002–2013 and for the 2016 Olympics games).
