History

FH Münster was founded in 1971. It was established as a result of an amalgamation of state and private construction and engineering colleges. Münster University of Applied Sciences fully complied with the requirements of the

, which aims to standardize academic qualifications across Europe. By the winter semester of 2007/2008, the university had completely transitioned its study programmes to the tiered Bachelor/Master’s system. In November 2011, it became the first university of applied sciences in Germany to successfully complete the process of system accreditation. This accreditation allows the university to independently accredit its own degree programmes, eliminating the need for external assessment by accreditation agencies.


Faculties and central scientific unit

FH Münster is divided into twelve faculties, seven of which are in Münster, the other five in Steinfurt.
