Demographics

As of the census of 2019, there were 1,426 people living in the city. As of the 2020 United States census, there were 1,251 people, 468 households, and 305 families residing in the city. In 2019, there were 484 households, out of which 26.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.8% were married couples living together, 20.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.7% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.94. In the city, the age distribution of the population shows 22.7% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38.9 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.7 males. As of 2019 estimates, the median income for a household in the city was $55,912, and the median income for a family was $67,834. Males had a median income of $34,076 versus $24,722 for females. The
