On March 1, 2008 the Eimsbüttel quarter lost a part of its area to form the quarter
Sternschanze Sternschanze () (lit. ''Star Sconce'') is a quarter in the center of Hamburg (Germany) within the Altona borough. In 2014, the population was 7,776 on an area of 0.6 km2 with a density of 14,113 inhabitants per km2.Altona.

In 2006, there were 54,702 people living in Eimsbüttel.
