The geographical township of Aberdeen Additional was added to Macdonald and Meredith township in 1899 to create the municipal township of Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional. The township encompasses the unincorporated communities of Echo Bay, Bar River and Sylvan Valley.
