stand. Denton is an ancient manor and had its own civil parish, but it was merged with neighbouring Cuddesdon in the 20th century. Denton was formerly a hamlet in the parish of Cuddesden, in 1866 Denton became a civil parish, on 1 April 1962 the parish was abolished and merged with Cuddesden to form "Cuddesdon and Denton". In 1961 the parish had a population of 112.
