Dimethyl-4-phenylenediamine is an
amine. It has been used as an accelerator for the vulcanization of rubber. It can be used in
oxidase tests.
Synthesis
Dimethyl-4-phenylenediamine is made by the
nitrosylation of
dimethylaniline followed by reduction.
